Enabling the Future

Enabling the Future (e-NABLE) is a global network of volunteers who use 3D printing to make free or low-cost upper-limb assistive devices. Its website includes open-source designs, assembly instructions, and resources for people learning to make 3D-printed prosthetic hands and arms.


Makers Making Change

Makers Making Change is a Canadian nonprofit that connects people with disabilities to volunteer makers who print assistive devices for free or at the cost of materials. Its site hosts around 200 adaptive product designs, which visitors can request to have printed or download and print themselves.


Illinois Assistive Technology Program (IATP)

IATP Makers is part of the Illinois Assistive Technology Program (IATP). It provides assistive technology design and fabrication services for Illinois residents, with a product library covering categories such as daily living, kitchen-related, recreation, and leisure devices, along with a request form for Illinois residents who need a device made.


MU_AT-AT_Lab

MU_AT-AT_Lab is a Thingiverse profile run by a University of Missouri occupational therapy research group. The team creates low-cost, custom assistive devices, and their Thingiverse page hosts the 3D printable designs they have released.


Make Good

MakeGood is a nonprofit organization that uses 3D printing to create free, custom assistive devices for people with disabilities. Its device catalog includes adaptive tools for writing, mobility, wheelchair use, daily activities, and recreation, with downloadable files available for many designs.


Access 3D

Access3D is a small, volunteer-run initiative that 3D-prints and ships free accessibility devices in Australia. Users pick a device from their catalog, submit a request form, and Access3D prints and ships it at no cost.

National Assistive Technology Act Technical Assistance and Training (AT3) Center

The AT3 Center's state programs directory lists the federally funded Assistive Technology Act program for every U.S. state and territory. Each entry includes a program director and contact information for device loan, device demonstration, and device reutilization services. Not every program runs a 3D printing initiative, but each connects users to their local assistive technology resources.


General 3D Model Repositories


These websites host large collections of 3D printable files. They are not specific to occupational therapy or assistive technology, but they can be useful for finding adaptive tools, household modifications, organization aids, educational models, and other printable designs. File quality, safety, licensing, and print settings vary by model. Review each design before printing or sharing it.

Health, Anatomy, and Educational 3D Models


NIH3D

NIH 3D is a government-supported platform for bioscientific and medical 3D models. 3D Printing Troubleshooting and Print Support


MatterHackers

MatterHackers built this guide to help identify and fix the most common problems that come up during 3D printing. It covers jammed nozzles, poor bed adhesion, warping, stringing, and sagging overhangs, with a fix listed for each issue.


Simplify 3D

Simplify3D's resources page hosts its Print Quality Troubleshooting Guide. The guide identifies 23 common print quality issues, such as under-extrusion, stringing, and overheating, and offers software settings and images to help diagnose and fix them. The page also includes video tutorials, a materials guide, and in-depth articles on 3D printing topics.
